Passage Read: Acts 2-3
Meditation Verse: 3:15

Thought

The resurrection of Jesus is the assurance that all He taught, all He claimed about Himself, and all He promised to those who believe in Him is true. It is the evidence we need to believe in Him. If He had remained dead until the first resurrection, none of us would know we were saved, none of us would have confidence to believe we were forgiven, and none of us would turn from our wicked ways. The resurrection is the key proof that everything God says is true and trustworthy, enough for us to abandon everything in this life to live fully and completely given over to do His will, to proclaim repentance and faith in Christ for redemption.

Application

The resurrection ends doubt. If Jesus has been raised from the dead to live forever, then He is God and worthy of all worship, and everyone needs to be warned and invited to repent and follow Him. If anyone doubts the resurrection, he believes little of consequence about God and Jesus. He makes God out to be a liar, for God has testified that He raised Jesus from the dead, and the apostles are liars and all of Christianity is a lie. The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest proof that all God says and is is true. Our redemption was accomplished on the cross, and the resurrection is the proof of that and everything else in Scripture!
