Passage Read: Mark 3-4
Meditation Verse: 4:37
Thought
A great storm came up on the sea, such that even the fishermen among them feared for their lives. But when they woke Jesus and He calmed the storm, He rebuked them for their lack of faith. What did He expect? He expected them to trust in the Lord who said they were to go to the other side. He expected them to trust in the Lord who still had work to do and would not perish until that work was done. They should have no fear of death as long as He was with them. And after He was crucified, they should even more have no fear of death, because they saw Him risen from the dead. Even if they died, they would live again, but they would not die until they had completed the work assigned to them.
Application
The last thing I should fear is death. Because I believe in Christ, His death and resurrection, I know that I too will rise again after death. I should have no fear of death, because it won't come until I have completed the work Jesus assigned to me. No matter how scary my circumstances become, whether natural or of men, I should not fear, because the worst that can happen to me is death, and death is nothing to fear. The biggest thing I should fear is being useless to God and doing nothing for Him, His glory and His name.
