Thought
It is not everyone who can understand the Word of God, but only those to whom Jesus chooses to reveal it. I can't make people understand, any more than I can make myself understand. If Jesus doesn't open their eyes, then there is nothing I can do to make them see. If Jesus doesn't open my eyes, there's nothing I can do to understand. I am at His mercy, both for myself and for others.
Application
So it is an incredible privilege and mercy to be able to see and understand what God teaches through this Book. It is not something to be taken lightly, but should humble me and drive me to obey it all the more. Neither should it bother me if people don't respond in obedience to it. I should be grieved that they don't understand, but there's nothing I can do to change that. I can only faithfully preach and teach what I've been shown. God alone controls who can understand His Word. And He didn't open the eyes of everyone He spoke to, so I cannot expect anything different in my efforts.
