Passage Read: Romans 6-7
Meditation Verses: 6:12-14

Thought

Sin has reigned in my mortal body, and I once willingly surrendered myself to it, submitting in slavery to it. It deceived me and I sold myself into slavery to it, because that looked right to me, to be master of my own destiny, to decide right and wrong for myself. But what looked liked freedom was just the exchanging of my true Master for a false master, one that has no real power or authority to grant my hopes and wishes, one that's only interested in inciting rebellion against God so as to destroy me! Now that I know the truth, I should no longer submit to sin, though it dwells in the members of my body. I should in fact offer the members of my body in slavery to righteousness, to God. I have that authority, to decide whom I will serve, whether sin or God, and I am responsible to submit myself and the members of my body to God.

Application

I have no excuse to go on sinning. I know the truth and cannot claim any longer to be merely deceived. Now I know what I'm doing, and by faith in Christ I have been made alive to God and righteousness. I have been empowered by God to turn away from sin and live for righteousness. I belong to Christ and to righteousness now, so in these I must walk.
