Passage Read: John 13-14
Meditation Verses: 14:12-14

Thought

This seems like such a great promise, such a huge promise. The works that Jesus did, those who believe in Him will do greater things. He has done some pretty spectacular miracles! But He promises that those who believe in Him will do even greater things, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. And He says, "Whatever you ask," as if there's no limit, just as long as the Father can be glorified through the Son.

Application

How little is my faith! The Father desires glory and the Son desires to glorify the Father. They both deserve every opportunity to show themselves great! But I fear that I'll make a fool of myself and give ammunition to others to deny God's existence if I ask something and God doesn't deliver. So I ask little and hope God does something anyway. He can. But He desires unambiguous glory. Jesus did things that could not be credited to anyone or anything else. They were truly miracles. Grow my faith, Lord, and give me the boldness to ask impossible things, not in secret ways, but publicly for public revelation. You are the same yesterday, today and forever. You are the same today as when Jesus walked the earth. You are able to perform miracles today, in the same way as in Jesus's day.
