Passage Read: Hebrews 1-2
Meditation Verses: 2:8-9

Thought

We know that it is to Jesus that all things have been subjected; He has received that promise. All authority in heaven and on earth have been given to Him, but He does not yet visibly reign over all things. He has the promise; He has the power, but He has not yet been given all things; they have not yet been subjected to Him. As God, He rules over all things and works all things together to accomplish His will. Nothing can resist Him. But all things have not yet been publicity given over to Him to rule over. This surely speaks of His visible reign over the earth and all who dwell on it.

Application

We do not yet see all things subjected to Jesus, but that day is coming. He has all authority and works to accomplish His Will, but everything has not been publicly handed over to Jesus. That will happen when He returns and conquers the whole earth. Every eye will see Him and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord; they will all bow the knee and He will rule all things with an iron rod. All the earth will obey and honor Him. That day is yet coming, but it is not yet here. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, but He has not yet been installed as earth's King. We do not yet see all things subjected to Him; men still do as they please in the world. But their time is short; they and everything else will soon be handed over to Jesus, for Him to do with as He pleases. That's why I need to be careful not to neglect this great salvation He brought, so that I am appointed to reign with Him. Rather than be given over to Him against my will, I will subject myself to Him willingly, now, as my Lord and King, to do His will now and surrender my own will to His.
