Thought

Jesus says something similar to His disciples: Those people who are willing to listen to Jesus, to God, will listen to those who are sent by Him, who teach His Word. If they are willing to listen to the Lord, they will listen to His servants. But if they are not willing to listen to those who speak His Word, then nether will they listen to Him.

Application

That is both frightening and encouraging. Frightening, because there are many people who are not willing to listen to the Lord, as evidenced by how many who are unwilling to listen to a teacher of truth. Encouraging, because if I teach the Word of God faithfully and accurately, and people refuse to listen and act accordingly, then it is not merely me that they don't listen to: They don't listen to the Lord either! If they don't listen to me, then I have nothing to be discouraged about, because they wouldn't listen to Jesus if He stood in my place! I just need to be sure I teach the Word of God accurately.
