Passage Read: Luke 7-8
Meditation Verses: 8:47-48

Thought

She knew that if she only touched the hem of His garment, she would be healed. And it was so. Jesus called her out and confirmed that her faith had made her well. Power went out from Him, but it was the result of her faith. How much does healing depend on the faith of the one to be healed, and how much on the will of God? There are many who presume on God and get nothing, but there are also those who trust in the Lord's power and kindness, and are healed. Is the latter given the faith to be healed? At times, Jesus rebukes His disciples for their lack of faith. His disciples! Yet this woman had faith to be healed of twelve years of suffering. Faith is not God's responsibility alone, otherwise, Jesus should be praying for His disciples to have faith every time they show a lack of it, rather than asking where their faith was.

Application

Faith needs to be grown and developed. I need to practice trusting in God and believing He will provide all things, according to His will not mine. Faith can be given as a gift—saving faith always is. But faith to trust through storms or for healing, these rest in us and our view of God and His Christ. So can I trust that the Lord will provide for us and for Joe? He can provide for Joe without using us. He can take us into the pastorate or something completely different to take care of our needs. He can and will provide for us, though I can't see the next thing yet.
