Passage Read: Mark 15-16
Meditation Verse: 15:10

Thought

Though Pilate didn't believe and was not necessarily a lover of Truth, still he recognized envy when he saw it. He knew it was because of envy that the religious leaders had handed over Jesus. He even tried to release Jesus, if for no other reason than to annoy the Jewish leaders, perhaps even to rebuke them for their duplicity. Unbelievers are not necessarily fools. They are not blind to the ways of men. They recognize wickedness when they see it, and when they see it in others, they can be just as provoked by it as believers and want to rebuke it. All of us desire justice, especially when it's in our favor, all of us have an innate hated of injustice, especially when it's against us.

Application

It seems sometimes that it's easier to fool Christians than non-Christians, because Christians are supposed to hope and believe the best. But unbelievers have no such rule. So I have to walk in integrity before them because they will see through my deception. I shouldn't try to fool them, but walk in righteousness and truth, so they cannot be offended by me living a lie.
