Passage Read: Matthew 17-18
Meditation Verses: 17:17,20

Thought

Jesus sounds pretty frustrated with His disciples and the people, "O unbelieving and perverse generation!" He's frustrated and discouraged because they still don't believe. And it's not just believing in Him, it's because they still need Him to personally heal this boy. When would they believe that the Father loves them and will listen to them? When will they believe that the Father would grant their requests? It cuts my own heart. When will I believe that the Father still desires to do good to people, even if they won't believe? How many of these hundreds, perhaps thousands that Jesus healed, how many of them believed in Him? After His death and resurrection, there were only 120 believers gathered in Jerusalem. Many however were added in the days and months ahead, surely they had experienced Jesus at some point, and now they believed.

Application

Why am I still so unbelieving? Lord, please take away my unbelief. Let me believe You like You deserve, like You desire, that I would bring You the glory and honor You desire.
