Passage Read: Leviticus 7-10
Meditation Verse: 10:3
Thought
Those who represent the Lord, those who draw nearest to Him, must hold closest to His Word and ways. He is holy and His holiness will be on display to those who draw nearest to Him, but that means those that draw nearest to Him must be most diligent to know and treat Him with the utmost honor. God is not to be trifled with; He is no mere mortal, but God Most High, and deserves to be treated with the highest of honor. But He doesn't merely deserve to be treated with all honor, He requires it. And any of us who draw near to Him must recognize that and draw near in accordance with His requirements.
Application
We're not free to be lazy or lackadaisical in how we approach or treat God. We must understand His greatness and holiness, and treat Him accordingly. If we want Him to approve our lowly gifts and self-styled honor, we're sorely mistaken. He is a great King, and He demands to be honored as such. I cannot bring Him half-hearted honor and trust He'll accept it because He is so gracious and merciful. On the contrary, His grace and mercy to me should drive me to honor Him all the more according to what He desires and requires.
