Passage Read: Psalm 107-110
Meditation Verses: 110:1-6

Thought

Psalm 110 is more than just a riddle about the identity of the Messiah. It is prophesy about God fulfilling that promise to make the Son of David rule over all nations! He will rule in the midst of His enemies, while those who love Him will volunteer gladly to stand in His army. Not only will He rule, but He will be an eternal high priest in the order of Melchizedek. God Himself will go before Him to destroy kings and judge nations, filling them with corpses. What violence! It perfectly captures the power and judgment of God at the end of this age.

Application

The Son of David will rule over even David and he will rejoice to see His days. Because He will bring justice to the nations and require obedience from all who hate the Lord. Israel and all those who love His appearing will gladly go forth with Him to judge the nations and discipline all who survive. A new order of king-priests will be established, with Jesus as the head and the rest of us as ambassadors of His rule, teaching and requiring the people to walk in His ways. The age of letting men get by with sin for a time will pass away, for all will see the Lord in Christ, so all doubt and faith will pass away. I need to love His commands today, because that will be the standard by which He rules.
