Meditation Verse: 2:10
Thought
The core components of these false teachers and false prophets is their devotion to the sinful nature and their rejection of authority. They are so arrogant as to slander celestial beings. They used to be believers or think they were believers, but because of their enslavement to their fleshly lusts, they do not get victory and cannot get victory over sin, so they must attack the authority of God's Word and His faithful messengers.

Meditation Verses: 2 Peter 1:10-11
Thought
Salvation is by faith alone, but that faith carries certain hallmarks of genuineness. We have received everything we need for life and godliness through Christ and in the Holy Spirit, but that doesn't mean we have nothing to do. Rather, Peter calls us to apply all diligence to grow in every aspect of Christ.

Thought
He doesn't say what Lot did in response to the torment of his soul, but Peter acknowledges that he was tormented daily by the lawless deeds of the men around him. I live in an age where the deeds of Sodom are again manifested and encouraged. Is my soul tormented by the things I see and hear? Not so much.

Thought
The right response to the coming of the Lord and the destruction of this earth is to live holy and godly lives, looking forward to the destruction of this place and the creation of a new heavens and new earth. There should be no love of this place, but a dislike of it and the sin that so thoroughly corrupts it! There should be no love of the people, but a desire to see them repent! There should be a separation, a commitment to live in such a way as to be found spotless and blameless and at peace with God, not men.

Thought
We should be continually growing in these areas that Peter points out, so that we can make our calling and election sure, to make sure we will never fail, and to ensure that we receive a rich welcome into Jesus's eternal kingdom. There are many who join the church and grow some in their knowledge of Christ and even their obedience to Him, but they fade out, they give up, they stop growing. Eventually they fall away.

Thought
The last days are defined by man's deliberate concealing of the Truth of creation. They will themselves to forget that the earth was created from nothing and through water by the word of the Lord. They suppress the truth and claim that all things continue as they always have. The promotion and adoption of evolution by society at large matches this prediction perfectly. The last days began more than two hundred years ago and must soon come to a conclusion.
