Passage Read: 2 Kings 24 - 1 Chronicles 2
Meditation Verses: 2 Kings 24:3-4

Thought

Even God has His limits. Manasseh had pushed God too far. The people under Manasseh had sinned so much against God that He was not willing to forgive them. Though Josiah recognized the sins of the people and tried to turn them back to the Lord, as much as he did, it was too little, too late. The Lord had already determined to drive them out of His land. He would not completely abandon them, as He promised through Moses, but neither would He forgive that generation or two. They would be the ones He punished for the extreme rebellion of the nation, that the following generations would understand how important it was to obey the Lord.

Application

There are people whom the Lord is not willing to forgive, there is another generation coming that will earn such wrath. There are individuals to whom the Lord refuses to grant repentance. Though the Lord desires all men to be saved, that they turn from their evil ways and live, yet He does not grant all men repentance. He has limits, and when He reaches His limit, there is no stopping His judgment. I am grateful that He has granted me repentance and faith to believe in Jesus, but I must not take that for granted and abuse His grace and continue to live in ways He hates. And I need to continually plead with those who haven't repented, that they would not go so far as to miss His grace.
