Thought

The prophets testified against the people in order to turn them back to the Lord. But of course the people hated that, and worked to silence the prophets, even killing them. No one wants to be told what they're doing wrong, because no one wants to change, no one wants to think that they're doing wrong. People only want to hear that they're doing right and good. But that doesn't make the prophets wrong! In fact, they were sent by God to point out the sins of the people and call them to repent. They were doing the right thing, but to this day people hate hearing where they're wrong and what they need to change.

Application

People still need to hear when they're wrong, they still need to hear what they need to change, but they still don't want to hear it. Prophets are still needed and it is still good and right to testify against the people in order to turn them back to the Lord. But people will oppose it and oppose those who speak for the Lord. It still needs to be done. Lord, give me the courage to speak for You.
