Passage Read: 2 Chronicles 30-33
Meditation Verse: 32:1

Thought

Hezekiah brought Judah back to the Lord in great ways. He was faithful to the Lord and trusted in Him and made all kinds of great reforms to turn the people back to the Lord. But when all seemed to be going so well and Hezekiah was succeeding in all his reforms, then came a huge test in the form of Sennacherib. God didn't protect them from this outside threat, He didn't keep them from danger. In fact, this threat was overwhelming! Would they abandon the Lord and seek some human means to survive? Hezekiah trusted Isaiah and they prayed to the Lord for help, and He delivered them in a miraculous way.

Application

Turning a people back to the Lord does not mean that there won't be trouble. In fact, God may allow a huge test to see what's really in our hearts, whether we truly trust in the Lord or not. Leading people back to the Lord will not go without challenge. But will I trust in the Lord or chicken out and turn to human means? If I turn to human means, things will collapse. But if I hold fast to the Lord and trust Him, He is able to deliver, though the choice to do so remains His. No matter what, I need to trust Him. May God give me the eyes to recognize the test and choose His way through it.
