Passage Read: 1 Chronicles 15-18
Meditation Verses: 17:16-18
Thought
David cared more about the Lord and honoring Him in every way possible, that he was embarrassed to be living in a house better than the Lord's. He knew that the Lord had established and honored him as king, so he knew the good things that had happened to him were from the Lord and not by his own efforts to gain them. They were a blessing from the Lord for his efforts to honor and obey the Lord and shepherd His people according to His desire. So he was embarrassed and ashamed that after the Lord had done such good to him, He was still dwelling in a tent. David was truly committed to serving and honoring the Lord in every way possible. And the Lord added promises to the blessings He'd already given to David.
Application
The Lord is very good to reward those who have given themselves to serve Him with their whole lives. I can't lose if I make honoring and obeying God my highest goal and purpose in life. David worked to take good care of God's people, to protect and preserve them, and lead them to love and obey the Lord. And God kept honoring and exalting him in this life. The Lord tested him and trained him to surrender everything and remain faithful to the Lord, and David learned it well. But as much as he suffered, David was rewarded with great honor and glory. God is good to those who put Him first in everything.
