Passage Read: Luke 13-14
Meditation Verses: 14:25-26
Thought
It's like Jesus was trying to scare away those who followed Him. Great crowds followed Him and He warned them that only those who love Him more than family or life could be His disciple. How is that the Gospel? Is it possible for someone to be saved yet not be His disciple? Or does He raise the bar so high that unless a person recognizes that He is greater than all else, they cannot be saved?
Application
Jesus wasn't looking for people who liked Him, but for people who put Him ahead of everyone else. If I love my life more than I love Jesus, I'll have a hard time doing what He asks. What He desires are people who will honor Him as God and do all He asks.
