Passage Read: Psalm 119
Meditation Verse: 119:115
Thought
The presence of evildoers is a temptation to ignore God's commands. When they are present, it is tempting to not walk in God's ways. But that's actually when it is most needful. The wicked need to see obedience and I need to do what is right in their presence. They may mock me or even fight me, so I may want to ignore God's law while they're around, but I must not. A proverb says that when they wicked rise, the righteous go into hiding, but the wicked need the testimony of the righteous. I shouldn't hide myself, my faith or my obedience when they are around.
Application
I'm often in the presence of those who mock the Lord and refuse to believe in Him, and I'm tempted to downplay my faith and not draw attention to myself by my obedient choices. But they need to see my faith and my obedience, so they might be convicted about their behavior. I even need to warn them that they are on a dangerous path and need to repent before it's too late. I cannot hide my faith or my obedience, but need to pray and hope that my testimony of obedience might bring them to repentance.
