Passage Read: 2 Corinthians 6-7
Meditation Verse: 7:3
Thought
It is sad that Paul always has to defend himself. The Church has fallen into error and he teaches and corrects them, and still he has to remind them that it is out of love that he corrects them. Why are we all so stubborn and arrogant, that we somehow think we know so much about God and godliness when we barely know anything at all? Why are we so stubborn as to refuse correction even by the one who introduced us to Christ? How did we become more knowledgeable than the one who knew Christ far better and first taught us about Him? Shouldn't we be quick to listen to anything he says and be grateful for his concern?
Application
I have grown much in Christ over the years, but there are still things I don't fully understand. I can be confident about many things, but I would be a fool to consider myself perfect in knowledge. I need to always be open to correction, to those wiser than me. But I need to be willing to call out people who are walking in ignorant arrogance, out of love for them or for those they influence. One thing Paul affirmed, he was committed to them until death! I need to not keep a distance, I need to let go of the mindset that things will fall apart in due time.
