Passage Read: Psalm 107-110
Meditation Verses: 109:2-5

Thought

David has determined in his heart to do what is just and right in the eyes of the Lord--not in his own eyes, or else he could have no confidence in pleading with the Lord for help. He has sought to do good and show love to everyone around him, but some of those near to him have turned against him. They don't see his love and goodness as kindness to them, but are either jealous of him or they have so misunderstood him that they refuse to see any other possibility or they have simply decided to hate him without cause. They have attacked him for so long, without willingness to talk through misunderstandings, that David discerns there remains no hope but to plead with the Lord against this person. And his plea to the Lord is brutal, but his desire is that they see that the Lord is for David and against those who accuse and hate him without real cause. He wants this person and all others who unreasonably hate a righteous man to see God justify the righteous and oppose wickedness.

Application

Lord, I pray that You would do the same to those who presently speak evil against my coworker, accusing her of evil though she has sought to do what is good and right and loving in Your sight. Bring their cursing back on their own heads so that all would know whom You honor and support, and who truly understands and knows You. And let her find confidence and comfort in Your deliverance.
