Passage Read: Proverbs 18-21
Meditation Verse: 21:5

Thought

The plans of the diligent versus haste. It is better to take time to plan carefully and then operate by a solid plan than it is to hurry through a bunch of tasks and think you're doing amazing because of all you get accomplished. Careful planning and execution is better than many tasks done hastily. Diligence may seem slow, but it brings greater success than hurrying. Hurrying though tasks seems like a great idea, but it allows for many mistakes and ruin, and leads to poverty.

Application

My goal in any task should be to accomplish it with quality. Efficiency is not measured by how many tasks I get done, but by how many I complete with quality. Many tasks done poorly may seem like a great accomplishment, but when some or many have to be corrected or redone because of incompleteness or error, then my actual efficiency drops. I become more of a burden to the one I serve than a help. Fewer tasks done well reduces the need for oversight or inspection and increases trust, which leads to being given greater responsibility. Doing my work well leads to greater success than seeming to do much more work. Diligence with planning is better than haste and "much production."
