Passage Read: Zechariah 3-6
Meditation Verses: 5:10-11
Thought
"Wickedness" was sent to the land of Shinar, the land of Babylon, where she was given a temple and set on a pedestal. So she would be worshiped, she would become an object of worship to many people, beginning in Babylon. At the time of this prophecy, the nation of Babylon had been overthrown, so this is as much a warning not of the wickedness of a country, but of wickedness itself being worshiped by godless people. It is a prophecy of things to come, because the temple still needed to be built when Zechariah saw this vision. Babylon the Great, the mother of prostitutes, is still to come, and she will cause the whole world to join in her apostasy and wickedness. Evil behavior will be worshiped and honored and promoted throughout the land, throughout all lands! Indeed, it has already begun!
Application
There are practices and behaviors that we're being called on to accept and approve, but the Lord has called them "wicked" from the beginning. We're in a day when wickedness is worshiped in broad daylight. The temple has been built and Wickedness has been enthroned. As bad as it is, it will only get worse. There are those who call themselves Christians and now advocate for the acceptance and approval of wicked behavior. They want to outlaw punishment and criminal conviction. I cannot take part in that. What God calls evil, deeds that God demands be punished, I must continue to agree with Him. Justice comes only when evil deeds are rebuked and punished. Justice does not decriminalize wickedness. Today's movement in that direction is not of God, no matter what some of its advocates say.
