Meditation Verses: Ezekiel 48:9-11
Thought
Zadok and his descendants remained faithful to the Lord, even though everyone around them, the rest of the Levites burned incense to other gods. They didn't give in to peer pressure, they didn't lose sight of the truth and reality of God, they didn't treat Him as if He were no different from any other god. They held fast to Him, remained faithful to Him, and served Him alone, as God had commanded. Because of their unwavering loyalty, they earned and retained the priesthood and were granted the privilege of dwelling beside the Lord, after the Lord has said the Israelites had defiled His temple by building their houses right up against His.
Application
The Lord has great reward for those who look to Him alone for how to worship and honor Him. Those who believe and obey what He commands, rather than listening to others who relax the commands of the Lord or ignore them, those who hold fast to the Lord, He will exalt. I don't want to listen to those who set aside the teachings of the Lord to promote their own interpretation of righteousness, their own version of Christianity. I want to believe and obey and hold firmly to everything the Lord teaches, because I want to know Him, not those who claim to speak for Him. I want to know the truth about Him, not men's ideas about Him.
