Passage Read: Ezekiel 4-7
Meditation Verses: 5:6-7

Thought

It is better to have never known the Lord than to know His righteous decrees and turn away from them. To know the Lord and His ways, to have waited on them, then to cast them behind your back and walk away from them, this is far more offensive to God than to have walked in wickedness because you never knew anything else! The end of both is the same: eternal damnation. But to know the truth, then deliberately turn away after lies and false gods, this is incredibly insulting to God, and He will be insulted.

Application

God warns that to know Christ and the power of the Spirit, then to turn away, there is no coming back from that, because you have publicly crucified the Lord Jesus again, and the Lord will not forgive. There is no repentance after that. It is far worse for those who know the truth and turn away than for those who never knew the truth. Neither will be saved, but the one who knew the Lord will have greater wrath heaped upon himself. Those who reject Jesus after knowing Him deserve the extra judgment and punishment that comes into their lives. I don't want to bring such wrath on myself. I can be grieved over those who do turn away, but there is no hope for them; they're lost for good.
