Passage Read: Psalm 47-50
Meditation Verses: 50:16-22

Thought

The wicked include those who stand in the assembly of the saints and recite God's Words, but yet hate God's commands and cast them behind their backs. They hear and repeat God's instructions, but they do not believe them and they immediately forget them. Instead, as soon as they can, they gather together with thieves and adulterers; they speak evil, even slandering their own flesh and blood. They do not fear God because there are no immediate consequences to their deception. But though God is silent, He is not blind. He gives them time to repent, if they will. If not, they will be eternally condemned.

Application

It is not all those who worship on Sunday morning who belong to the Lord. It is not all those who claim to believe in Jesus who belong to Him. The day is coming when many of those who trusted in words that were empty to them will find that God does not honor them. They never honored Him by their actions, they didn't care what He stood for and stood against, in fact they were embarrassed by much of what He said and did. "The things that helped others are fine, but all those exclusive and judgmental things He said, those are not good." So they create a god after their own kind, one that allows them to do the evil they desire, thinking that God is just made up anyway. So why would they think a made-up God would save them? It's just in case He's real. But when they find out He is indeed real, it will be too late for them. They didn't live by faith, but by their senses, in all kinds of sensuality that God condemns. It is not those who claim to believe in Jesus who I can consider believers, but it is those who walk in His ways, seeking to honor Him by their words and deeds, those I can trust are my brothers and sisters. The rest need encouragement and exhortation to put feet to their faith, to believe in truth.
