Passage Read: 2 Peter 2-3
Meditation Verses: 3:10-12

Thought

The right response to the coming of the Lord and the destruction of this earth is to live holy and godly lives, looking forward to the destruction of this place and the creation of a new heavens and new earth. There should be no love of this place, but a dislike of it and the sin that so thoroughly corrupts it! There should be no love of the people, but a desire to see them repent! There should be a separation, a commitment to live in such a way as to be found spotless and blameless and at peace with God, not men. There is nothing on this planet worth living for in such a way that would require compromise or disobedience to any of God's commands. All my hope and effort and life should be lived to gain His approval and nothing else!

Application

I do not want to be corrupted by this world in any way. I have spent enough time in its grip, immersed in its thinking and absorbed in its ways. All that profited me nothing and only gained me eternal condemnation. I have no need of that any longer! This world and all is ways will be thoroughly destroyed; I want no part in it nor do I want any of it clinging to me. I need to be immersed in God's ways and thoughts and emulate His ways. The more that separates me from the people of this world, the better. The more I am cut off from the the hopes and dreams and practices and purposes and goals of worldly men, the better. I want Christ alone; this world has nothing whatsoever to offer me, but a chance to be challenged and tested and strengthened in faith, and to proclaim His goodness and gospel.
