Passage Read: Titus 3 - Philemon 1
Meditation Verses: Titus 3:1-2

Thought

The believer should be known for their humility, respectfulness and meekness. Paul tells Titus to remind every believer to be submissive to authorities, obedient, ready to do whatever good, to speak evil of no one and not to be quarrelsome, but forbearing and meek. We're supposed to honor all men in humility and meekness, to put up with those who are tiresome rather than argue with others. Who can do all that without having first given up all demands for things of this world, and demands for right treatment at the hands of others? Unless we commit ourselves and our hope to God, unless we truly set our hope on things eternal, there's no way we could be like this, completely humble and patient with everyone.

Application

So obviously there are still things I want out of this life, still things I expect and require. Otherwise, I could be completely humble and patient with everyone around me. But I struggle to do that. I can be provoked fairly easily, which should actually preclude me from church leadership. I can't just stop being angry, I actually need to let go of the things that I require, which provoke me when I don't get them.
