Passage Read: 2 Timothy 3-4
Meditation Verses: 3:13-15

Thought

Evil men and pretenders will increase and become worse. There is no stopping them. Between their delight in taking people captive and the laziness of believers to believe and know the Scriptures, it is an easy thing for deceivers to multiply! The only safeguard against being deceived is to know the Scriptures well, believe them and hold fast to all they teach, holding to the original understanding of those Scriptures. The problem with today is we want to reinterpret what the Scriptures mean or which parts still apply by our current culture and societal beliefs. That is actually evidence of already having been deceived!

Application

False teachers will multiply in these last days, and there is no stopping it. But I don't have to be deceived because I can and do read the Scriptures regularly. I need to trust what they say, even when famous teachers say something contrary to the plain and obvious meaning of the Bible. The Scriptures are given by God for my training, if I ignore things the Bible teaches, I'll be in danger of being deceived. Men can be deceived, and many delight to deceive. They don't love the Lord and submit to Him; they love power, even over a few people. I must always remember that I am a slave to Christ. He is Lord, I am His to command.
