Passage Read: Revelation 21-22
Meditation Verse: 22:9

Thought

We together with the angels are slaves of God. But no one wants to hear that today. We are offended by the notion that we would belong solely and completely to another, having no rights whatsoever, but be completely at the mercy of our owner. To belong to another and not be our own person is anathema to us. Yet that is what we are. God created us and we are His to do with as He pleases. We cannot fight against it. We can only choose to be obedient slaves and trust that since He is a good master He will reward us for our faithfulness. Or we can resist and suffer for our rebellion now, He punishes us in hopes that we learn to obey, otherwise, He will have no use for us but will cast us out of His house forever, His house being the universe now and to come.

Application

I am a slave of Jesus Christ and I need to get that through my head. He has all rights over me and I have none. He is free to do with me whatever He wishes, I can only submit and obey if I want to have any hope of a reward. If I insist on my own way, I will be forever lost. I am not my own; I am bought with a price. I am a slave of God, purchased by the precious blood of Christ, so of course, He highly values me, but for His own purposes. And when I have faithfully completed the work appointed to me in this life, I will receive an eternal reward, yet still be His slave, living to serve Him, a very good and kind and holy Master. If I do not belong to Him I have no part in His home! So I do well to belong wholly to Him.
