Passage Read: Isaiah 15-18
Meditation Verses: 18:1-3
Thought
The nations will plot together against the Lord, they will gather together against Him. They will encourage themselves and seek aid from each other. They think their numbers and weapons of war will be sufficient against the Lord. Satan has deceived them completely. They are fools and they will lose. And the Lord will leave some of them alive to rule over them, so that they will understand how foolish they were to try to defeat Him and those loyal to Him. He will exalt us in their presence, so that they may know we were right and they were very wrong.
Application
Though it seems hopeless to turn the tide of the nations, to bring the world back to the fear and glory of God, yet this is how it is supposed to go. We were given the task to proclaim the Gospel that some might be saved, but the Church by and large was always going to end up turning away from Him to believe lies, to join hands with the nations and forsake the Lord. I shouldn't be surprised or discouraged. Nor should I be overwhelmed, because it is not true for all believers, just the majority. Only the remnant will be saved. I need to not give in to despair, but trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him, and speak up as best I can for Him.
