Passage Read: Jeremiah 13-16
Meditation Verses: 14:13-16

Thought

Though there are false prophets telling lies, that the people will not suffer but enjoy peace forever, yet the Lord does not excuse the people. He will punish the prophets and the people. The people are accursed, and their following of false prophets is the proof. The prophets are accursed because they proclaim things from their own minds or hearts for their own sake. Neither care for what the Lord says, so neither will be excused.

Application

It is my responsibility to understand the Lord's will and proclaim it accurately. It is also my responsibility to discern who is proclaiming God's Word and who is not, so that I can know the truth better. God will not cut me any slack if I chose to fall in with false teachers. I chose who I listen to, I am not forced to listen to false teachers any more than I am forced to listen to godly teachers. So I am responsible for my choice, whether as a preacher or as a learner.
