Passage Read: Isaiah 63-66
Meditation Verse: 66:5

Thought

Those who tremble at God's Word, it is their own brothers who hate them and drive them out in God's name. They say God is glorified by their driving out of those who fear the Lord, but the Lord will appear to those who are driven out because they tremble at His Word, and He will rejoice over them and bring them joy, while those who drove them out will be ashamed. Those who drove them out are obviously people who think they know the Lord, but who do not tremble at His Word. They are those who have set aside His Word yet consider themselves His spokesmen! They are religious leaders, like the Pharisees and Sadducees and scribes and lawyers of Jesus' day, who threw Him out of His inheritance and had Him killed. But He rose again and gained everything they tried to take from Him. They are the ones who have lost everything they tried to claim.

Application

It is the same today. There are those who have set themselves up as the new arbiters of Truth, who claim to know God and speak for Him, but they twist His Word and distort and change and deny its plain meaning. They do not tremble at His Word, and they hate and oppose those who do. I should not be surprised if those who rule in God's house oppose me, if I truly tremble at His Word and do not dare to go against it. I should expect it. And I should continue to tremble at God's Word, because He is and will be pleased with me. They may cast me out, just like they did Jesus, but the Lord will come to me and bring me into His glory.
