Passage Read: Song of Solomon 7 - Isaiah 2
Meditation Verses: Isaiah 1:27-28

Thought

The penitent ones will be redeemed with righteousness, but the rebels and sinners will be broken and will perish. This is why the Gospel begins with "repent." We still need to turn from our evil ways; we need to acknowledge our evil ways and be ashamed of them and turn away from them. It is those who are ashamed and willing to forsake their sins who are saved, not those who merely claim to believe in Jesus. If we really believe in Jesus, we have to change our ways to walk in His, because we believe He is Lord, and the Lord makes the rules.

Application

The call to the Gospel is "repent and believe," and I need to remember that. God has always been calling people to turn away from their sin and rebellion, so the Gospel doesn't allow or make provision for a person to live however they want. The Gospel provides salvation by the righteousness of Christ to whomever is willing to admit they have gone their own way and are done doing so. If there is no repentance and humbling before the Lord, then there is no saving faith.
