Passage Read: Isaiah 51-54
Meditation Verse: 54:17

Thought

The inheritance of the servants of the Lord is that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises to condemn us, we will condemn. And our righteousness will not be our own, but will be given us from God. Our inheritance is victory over those who hate us, over those who seek to destroy us and condemn us. Though men may seem to have the upper hand and do to us whatever they wish, yet we will rise up in spite of all they do, we will have the final and eternal victory. That's why we should not fear men when they oppose us and mock us and blaspheme us. The best they can do is kill us, just like they killed Jesus. But like Jesus, the Lord will raise us to life again indestructible, immortal.

Application

If I don't hold fast to this truth, this promise, wicked men will defeat me, discourage me. In discouragement, I need to remember this truth, my inheritance, that by faith in Christ I have been made righteous and will rule over those who hated Jesus and me. It is very saddening that so many hate the Lord, who is their only hope for redemption and salvation. It is very grievous that so many want nothing of the Lord, that they would rather perish than serve Him. Their lives are lost for nothing. If only they would see and repent. Nevertheless, I cannot let their stubborn refusal to bow to Him overcome my faith in Him and my patience as I wait for His redemption.
