Passage Read: Isaiah 47-50
Meditation Verse: 50:10
Thought
Even if I walk in darkness and have no light, I need to continue to fear the Lord and obey His Son. If I trust in the Lord and lean on His guidance, I will be safe and secure, even though I can't see a thing in front of me. Though all the world has turned away and all is darkness and evil around me, yet by fearing God and obeying Him, I will know how to live and what to do. But if, as the next verse suggests, I set up my own light and depend on myself to know how to live, I will receive nothing but pain from the Lord.
Application
This world is growing darker by the day. It is establishing its own righteousness that looks little like God's. If I choose to live by the world's standard, I will cut myself off from the Lord. If I establish my own way, I will cut myself off from the Lord. The only way to please the Lord is to trust in Him and His Word, to live by His instructions and lean on Him and fear Him alone. I cannot blend in with the darkness, but must show myself to be a child of the light, even if it means exposing the sin around me and making all my neighbors my enemies.
