Passage Read: Song of Solomon 3-6
Meditation Verse: 4:9

Thought

It's interesting that their love is so much based on the physical, their beauty and the delightfulness of their appearances. It is all passion and emotion, nothing about character or internal qualities. They are faint with love. Even the friends just want to look at the girl, to gaze on her as long as they can. And both lovers delight in the physical beauty of the other.

Application

How again is this something included in Scripture? God created us to delight in the physical beauty of each other? That's how we're wired? That's ok? It's pretty obvious if you look at the world. Especially unbelievers are all about showing off their bodies. Women want to show off their bodies. Guys too. It's like we're wired not just to enjoy the view, but to want to be enjoyed for the view! This seems so foreign to the things of God, but on the other hand, God didn't create us to suffer, but to enjoy the good things He had created—for husband and wife.
