Passage Read: Psalm 23-26
Meditation Verse: 24:1

Thought

The world and everything in it belongs to the Lord, so He gets to make the rules, and He gets to decide who remains and who is cast out. He sets the standards and we must abide by them if we desire to remain. We don't have any real autonomy: we either submit to Him or we end up cast out of Creation. His mercy grants us time to decide whether we will repent and honor Him or continue to go or own way, but His mercy doesn't last forever. A day of judgment is coming, and the results of that judgment are sealed at our deaths. The King of Glory is coming to take back His world, and the earth will welcome Him back, along with those who have humbled themselves before Him. The rest will be on the wrong side of His mighty sword.

Application

Jesus will return to reign as King, and He will rule by God's righteous standards, so if I want to be included in His kingdom, I need to accept his rule now. He is the same yesterday, today and forever; his standard of righteousness doesn't change, so what He expects of me is the same as it always has been: clean hands, pure heart according to His Word, bowing down to no God but Him. He does not change and neither do His ways, so I am obligated to order my life by all He has written, because I want to remain in His Creation.
