Passage Read: Job 25-28
Meditation Verses: 28:12-13

Thought

This is so true: Men do not understand the value of wisdom. It is far more precious that silver or gold or iron or bronze. Men risk their lives for such stones and trinkets, they spend all their days searching for them and gathering them. They boast and brag about the amount they have collected, and then they go seek some more. But wisdom? Wisdom is something they think they gain without trying, just by living and enduring, in the process of chasing after their rocks and stones. They are clueless. Wisdom is far more valuable than any of those things they spend their lives to collect. Fearing the Lord, that is wisdom; turning from evil, that is understanding, as verse 28 says. But that, men don't understand the value of that.

Application

I should understand it. I've read this, I've heard the rebuke. Money and possessions count for nothing. Wisdom is the only thing worth living and doing for. Because that counts for eternity, that opens the way to eternal life. As Jesus said, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but forfeit his soul? What a waste! But to forfeit the world and gain eternity with God? That means something! That lasts forever! Wisdom is the gateway, wisdom is the path. Fearing God and turning from evil.
