Passage Read: 1 Chronicles 11-14
Meditation Verse: 14:13-15
Thought
David was a famous and successful warrior by this time. That is a large part of why all Israel came to make him king, because the Lord blessed his leadership of the army. But here he is, with all his wisdom and experience, being attacked by the Philistines, and he asks God whether he should go up against them, would God give him victory over them? Saul did not seek the Lord; David checked with the Lord even about things he knew very well.
Application
This is a great testimony and example for me. No matter how wise or experienced I think I am, I still need to check with the Lord. Here we're faced with a major decision, should we go or should we stay? What does the Lord want? Does He want us to come and serve in this place? Will He grant us success? Or is this vanity? Please let us hear clearly from You, Lord.
