Passage Read: 1 Kings 22 - 2 Kings 3
Meditation Verses: 2 Kings 1:9-10

Thought

This is probably what James and John were thinking of when the Samaritan town refused Jesus passage and they wanted to call down fire on them. Elijah twice called down fire that consumed a captain and his fifty men. Elisha would soon curse some youths for mocking him, and a bear would maul 42 of them. There is a power available to us that can strike fear into the rebellious. Jesus refused James and John, but they rightly asked Him first. It is not the Lord's will at this time to remove all stumbling blocks from the world, nor to destroy men's lives, but we have a power available that can be used to rebuke men and remind them to fear the Lord and His people.

Application

Before I curse anyone, I should check with the Lord to see if He approves, but there are people who have set themselves against the Lord and silenced God's people. I should pray for their repentance, but also be ready to pray for their silencing. I need to be more bold to speak up for the Lord when conversation lends itself. Others voice their beliefs, often in unpleasant ways, I shouldn't be afraid to voice mine.
