Passage Read: Numbers 8-11
Meditation Verses: 9:22-23

Thought

Though the people lived in tents, I'm sure it was not so simple a matter to pack up and leave at a moment's notice. Today with our modern technology and only one or two nights' plan to camp, it takes a good part of the morning to tear down. They had more people per family, more hands to work, but to set up and tear down and still have time to travel surely wasn't simple. Yet they don't complain about the travel or the tear down time, they complain about the lack of meat. I'd be frustrated any time we had to pack up after a single night. And from the sound of it, the Lord wasn't necessarily saying how long they'd stay or when they would move next. The people just had to be ready to pack up and leave as soon as the Lord lifted the cloud from the tent of meeting.

Application

I want plans and warnings, but God doesn't promise to provide that. I need to be ready to pickup at a moment's notice. When the Lord says move, I need to move. I may not have advance warning of when He says go, but I need to be ready. I don't know what the Lord has planned for us at this time, so I need to be ready to move whenever and wherever He says to go.
