Passage Read: Numbers 4-7
Meditation Verse: 7:89
Thought
This seems so matter-of-fact, that Moses heard the voice of the Lord from between the cherubim above the atonement cover. Moses spoke with the Lord face-to-face, almost. He spoke with the Lord as surely as I speak to another person. But the Lord does not speak this way to everyone, so the rest of us can so easily cast this aside. But God is real, He is every bit as real as I am. Everything He has said to Moses or anyone else, it is truly the Lord speaking, and I need to take it to heart. These are the words of God that I am reading, regardless of who wrote them down. And Moses was the most humble man on earth because He saw God so clearly and spoke with Him like a friend, knowing full well he was nothing compared to the Lord.
Application
That God would speak to any man is shocking to believe. He is so far above any one of us and all of us combined! That He would lower Himself to concern Himself with us is an incomparable gift. To be held in such honor as to hear from the Lord is beyond compare. That the Lord would be so kind as to allow me to understand anything He has written is a kindness beyond measure. I may not hear the Lord speaking audibly with me, but I can read everything He recorded for all mankind, and to be granted the humility to understand, believe and obey it is likewise an incomparable gift. It is not granted to everyone, but how I wish it was. There are those I love dearly who will not be granted repentance and faith, and that is a hard truth to receive.
