Passage Read: Psalm 83-86
Meditation Verse: 86:2

Thought

David declares himself to be godly, and on that basis, pleads with the Lord for help. There is only a record of a few of his sins, and two of them are directly related. He learned to trust in the Lord from a young age, from his days as a shepherd. Fleeing from Saul later in life made that trust even more real. He loved the Lord and wanted Him exalted by His people, and he worked to make that happen. Godliness must not be as hard to attain as we make it out to be: David displayed his love for God and trust in God very clearly, and worked for the good of his people in obedience to the Lord.

Application

That's all godliness is: loving God in truth and loving our neighbor as ourselves. If my heart is given fully to the Lord, and in love for Him I do what He asks in relation to those around me, will I not also be counted godly? Is it really so hard? It's what Jesus said. Why do I think I can't be counted as godly? What hinders me? Do I not understand God well enough? Press on to know Him! His Word tells everything He wants me to know about Him. Are there some instructions I still fail at? Dig in and conquer them with God's help!
