Passage Read: Psalm 148 - Proverbs 1
Meditation Verses: Psalm 149:5-9
Thought
The saints at present are subject to the whims of the wicked. The wicked do as they please, they even gain power and rule, and all are subject to them. They make the rules, they dictate right and wrong to the masses, and they get away with their wickedness. But the righteous, the saints have cause to rejoice on their beds, in private away from the crowds, because they have this promise: Though the wicked rule today, the day is coming when the Lord will set the righteous over the wicked and put a sword in the hand of the righteous to execute vengeance and justice, to bind up all those who have hated them and even ruled over them and execute judgment on them. This is how God will honor those who remained faithful to Him even when all the world rejected Him.
Application
I will be glorified in the eyes of the nations when the Lord returns, and I will be given power and authority to execute His judgment on the nations, even on rulers, who hated the Lord and His people. I will be exalted over those who ridiculed and mocked the Lord and His people, even me. The Lord will make me a ruler and judge over them, to punish them and to take vengeance on them. Not today, today the wicked still rule and I must wait patiently and do what is good and right in God's eyes--the very thing that drives the wicked into a fury. They may even fight and kill me in their wrath, but I will rise again and carry out God's vengeance on them! That's the promise I have from God!
