Thought
Jesus sounds unhappy or impatient with the people because they must see signs and wonders in order to believe. But signs and wonders testify to the presence of God with a prophet. Yet believing on the basis of signs and wonders does not mean a person believes in truth. They may just be there for the excitement! Or what happens when a false prophet comes along and does signs based on the power of Satan? The Antichrist and his prophet will do that. Signs and wonders are not enough. They are meant to be a beginning, to identify the one sent from God, but then the people must listen to what he teaches, believe it and put it into practice. If that doesn't happen, the people have believed in vain.
Application
"Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stunning block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." Jesus has done the miracles and proven He is from God. He has died and risen again. He has proven Himself worthy to follow and believe. It is not enough for me to believe He is mighty in power, that He is the Mighty One. If I believe that, I need to listen to what He teaches and do it. Otherwise, His miracles and my "belief" are wasted. He came to teach me the way of God in truth, so I need to do what He says, whether He continues to do miracles or not.
