Passage Read: Romans 16 - 1 Corinthians 1
Meditation Verses: 1 Corinthians 1:17-21
Thought
As much as I want the Gospel to be a reasonable, logical and sensible message, God has determined to make it foolishness to the world, to those who are perishing. There is no getting around that! To attempt to make my presentation clever or wise to the perishing is to gut the cross of Christ of its power. God deliberately made it a message of foolishness to those who are perishing, so that we could recognize those whom He is saving.
Application
That means I need to get over the embarrassment of the cross and the shame of rejection. I need to accept that there's no way to avoid appearing like a fool when I peach the Gospel. I don't need to impress people with my presentation; the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, and that is good, a safeguard to enable only those whom God is calling to believe it. I don't want any more false believers in the church, but I want to see everyone whom God desires to hear and believe. Let Him do the work through the message He has designed, and let me appear the fool to everyone who considers themselves unworthy of eternal salvation.
