Thought
The righteous and upright man will have no fear when trouble or bad news comes. Because he has so complete a trust in the Lord. He has trained himself to trust in the Lord by giving generously and lending freely. He has trained himself to trust in the Lord by conducting himself and all his affairs justly. He had not feared man, not does he trust that because of his generosity, others will be generous to him in time of need. His heart is secure and steadfast because he trusts fully and only in the Lord. So bad news doesn't scare him, neither do enemies who rise up against him. They might cause him grief, but not alarm.
Application
This is the kind of trust I want to have, so obviously, I need to be generous and lend freely, so I don't set my heart on my wealth. I need to conduct all my affairs with justice, upholding God's law rather than seeking to curry favor with men through favoritism. In so doing, I'll be training my heart to fear the Lord alone and believe in His faithfulness toward His beloved.
