Passage Read: Psalm 132-135
Meditation Verses: 135:3-4
Thought
The Lord is worthy of praise for all the good He has done for His people. It proves His love for them, and His power on their behalf. Israel has enjoyed so many great things from the Lord, as the psalmist recounts. But the greatest of these is that He chose Israel to be His own precious possession to begin with! All other blessings flow from this one. When the Lord desires to bless, there is no limit. But to continue to enjoy His favor, His people must respond with humility and faithfulness to His decrees. He didn't just choose Israel to display His might over circumstances, but so that He could instruct and train a people in righteousness to be an example to the nations of who He is and what He does.
Application
I too have been chosen to be God's precious possession through Jesus Christ! That is an amazing gift! He proved His love and power for me through the incarnation, life, death, resurrection and exaltation of Jesus. More than that, He proved it by making me entirely new, so that I could indeed walk in His ways, to show the world what He is like, not just as an object of grace, but as an imitator of God Himself in all His ways of kindness and goodness to others. I have been given the honor of being chosen to be His own possession, and that is worthy of great praise!
