Passage Read: Job 13-16
Meditation Verses: 15:2-4

Thought

This is why Paul says that the Lord's servant must not quarrel. There is no point in arguing with people who are not willing to reevaluate their worldview. Unless God breaks through to them and opens the eyes of their hearts, there is no way for Job or anyone else to convince them of something that goes against all they believe. Job and his friends have gone round and round, and they'll go around several more times. Until God shows up, none will recognize his fault.

Application

It is enough to speak once, maybe twice, and it should be clear whether someone is teachable or not. If not, there is only need for a rebuke, if the matter is clear, then to drop it. If the other persists in arguing or debating, there is no point in engaging with them, but only warning them that they are heaping up judgment against themselves. It is a fool who rages and scoffs, not a wise man. The wise man knows that only those who are teachable are worth teaching. I need to teach what I know to be true, I need to answer genuine questions, but I don't need to engage in debate with those who have no interest in repentance.
